BEIJING, Nov. 3 (Xinhuanet) -- Britney Spears is
under investigation for possible complicity in an incident in which a sheriff's
deputy's foot was injured as she was leaving a downtown courthouse last week,
the Los Angeles Police Department confirmed Friday.
"We are aware that Britney Spears
was leaving the courthouse," said Officer Jason Lee, a police spokesman. "We are
also aware that a deputy was injured, but we're unable to confirm the details on
the deputy's injury because the investigation is in its initial stage."
Celebrity website TMZ.com reported authorities are
looking into whether Spears ran over the deputy's foot with her car as she was
leaving an Oct. 26 hearing on her efforts to obtain joint custody of her two
children with ex-husband Kevin Federline.
Officer Ana Aguirre would only say that a deputy
suffered "minor to moderate" injuries in an accident involving a vehicle.
"It's unknown if (Spears) was the driver," Aguirre
said.
