GAZA, Oct. 30 (Xinhua) -- The Islamic Resistance
Movement (Hamas) will move from the state of self defense to that of attacks
against Israeli army from the Gaza Strip, a Hamas political leader said on
Tuesday, adding that he was told so by a military commander.
"A few days ago, I have met Hamas' military wing
chief, Mohammed al-Dief, and he told me we will start attacking Israel instead
of just defending ourselves," Hamas political leader Ahmed Nemer, who is based
in Gaza, told Hamas supporters during a rally in southern Gaza.
"The al-Qassam Brigades are ready now and wait the
orders from the political levels to strike inside the heart of Israel, the
occupation entity, if they did not stop the killings and operations in Gaza
Strip," Nemer added, quoting al-Deif.
Al-Deif's only appearance before the media was in
late 2005 when Israel withdrew from the Gaza Strip. He has survived numerous
Israeli assassination attempts while Israel says he was badly wounded in one of
the air strikes and was sent outside the Gaza Strip for treatment.
Israel began restricting fuel shipments to Gaza on
Sunday as part of sanctions imposed in response to Palestinian rocket attacks on
the Jewish state that military operations have been unable to stop.
The sanctions came after Israel declared the
territory, which Hamas seized in mid-June by violence, a "hostile entity" on
Sept.19.
