RAMALLAH, Oct. 30 (Xinhua) -- Chief Palestinian negotiator SaebErekat
denied on Tuesday that the Annapolis peace conference scheduled on November in
the United States has been postponed.
"So far, the fall conference is a proposal initiated by President George
Bush. We haven't been invited ye, where a specific date for holding it hasn't
been decided yet as well," Erekat told "Voice of Palestine" Radio.
He added "the date and the content for the conference haven't been decided.
It's premature to say the conference was postponed or not, because the
preparatory meetings for the conference are still going on."
President Bush announced he is intending to invite Israeli, Palestinian,
Arab and world leaders to a summit meeting in the United States to agree on the
resumption of the stalled peace negotiations to end the conflict.
"There are serious deep talks and meetings between the two negotiating
teams, the Israeli and the Palestinian, to agree on a joint document to be
declared during the conference," said Erekat.
Meanwhile, Erekat condemned the recent Israeli decision to tighten its
economical sanctions imposed on the Gaza Strip, by reducing electricity and
fuels supplies Israel allows in Gaza on daily basis.
"We officially applied to the Israeli government to refrain from carrying
out such kinds of punishing sanctions," said Erekat.
