Iraq
BAGHDAD, Oct. 25 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. military said Thursday that two of
its soldiers were killed and eight others injured in two incidents in Baghdad
northern province of Salahudin on Wednesday.
A soldier was killed and five others were wounded during combat operations
near the city of Beiji, 200 km north of Baghdad, a military statement said.
A second soldier died of wounds sustained from a mine explosion while
conducting operations in the province, another statement said.
Three more soldiers were also wounded by the blast, it added. The names of
the deceased are being withheld pending notification of next of kin, the
statements said.
The latest deaths bring the number of U.S. soldiers who have been killed in
Iraq to 3,837 since the U.S.-led invasion on Iraq in 2003, according to media
