BEIJING, Oct. 21 -- Chinese speed skater Wang Meng on
Saturday overcame great pressure from two South Korean rivals to win women's
1000m at the Harbin leg of the Short Track Speed Skating World Cup series.
It's China's first gold medal at the opener event of
the World Cup season opening on Friday.
The Winter Olympic champion Wang skated to the lead
after the game began and finished with one minute 34.897 seconds after
breath-taking competitions with Korean counterparts who tried many times to trap
Wang but in vain.
Jung Eun-Ju of South Korea came second with one
minute 34.974 seconds.
