SHANGHAI,
Oct. 17 (Xinhua) -- Dwight Howard had 31 points and 14 rebounds Wednesday to
lead the Orlando Magic to a 90-86 win over the Cleveland Cavaliers in a
preseason game here.
Point guard Jameer Nelson scored 24 points for the
Magic, who played the first time in China.
The NBA China game returned after three years as the
first NBA preseason game was played in China in 2004 when the Houston Rockets
played the Sacramento Kings in Beijing and Shanghai.
LeBron James played 28 minutes to score 17 points for
the Cavaliers, who had the starting five resting on the bench after the third
quarter.
The Cavaliers led for most of the game until Howard's
basket with 1:32 minutes to go put the Magic to the lead for good.
"I took off my first team after the third quarter and
put on the second team for the whole fourth. I'd never thought to bring back my
first five. I want to take a good look of my team and we are still working on
the rotation," Cavaliers' coach Mike Brown said.
"The coach was upset at the start of the game as we
didn't take the ball to the basket. We did it better on the second half, both
defensively and offensively, and won the game," Howard said.
The NBA China game will move to Macao, China, on Thursday when the Magic is to take on the Chinese national team, and the two NBA teams will play another preseason game on Saturday there.
