KABUL, Oct. 2 (Xinhua) -- A soldier of the U.S.-led coalition forces died Tuesday during a military operation in eastern Afghan province of Kunar, a coalition statement said.

    The soldier was "killed by small-arms fire while conducting combat operations in Kunar Province at approximately 10:00 a.m.," the statement said, adding that three coalition soldiers were also wounded.

    Offering no names or nationalities of the four soldiers, the statement added that the incident is currently under investigation.

    Around 13,000 coalition forces are fighting militants and keeping security in Afghanistan, where rising violence has left over 5,000 people dead so far this year.
