U.S. Dawn probe sets off on asteroid mission

    WASHINGTON, Sept. 27 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. Dawn probe is launched into space at 7:34 a.m. EDT (1134 GMT) from the Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida, shows NASA TV.

    The delay-plagued spacecraft finally begins its eight-year mission to Ceres and Vesta, the two largest objects in the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter.
