CHONGQING, Sept. 26 (Xinhua) -- Chen Yanyan from Team Guangdong became the
first triple gold medalist at the national swimming championships after she won
the women's 50 meters backstroke here on Wednesday.
The 22-year-old Chen clocked 29 seconds, ahead of Asian record holder Gao
Chang (29.54). Gao was 1.23 second behind her personal best.
"Like my national teammates, I feel very tired after a series of
competitions," said Chen, who had claimed the gold in 100 and 200 meters
backstroke and reached Olympic A qualification standard in both events.
"But I'm in good shape," she added. "I even got my personal best in the 100

world ranking. She won the 200 meters race in 2:12.68 on Tuesday, 0.79 seconds
off her personal best.
"I still have much more space to improve," said the backstroke specialist.
"I might take training abroad for a period after the championships."

Team Zhejiang clinched the title in a time of 3 minutes 47.13 seconds.

final at 50.10 seconds, failing to meet the Olympic A qualification standard of
49.23 seconds.
