Jankovic plays Davenport at semifinal
of China Open
BEIJING, Sept. 21 (Xinhua) -- The second seed Jelena
Jankovic won the quarterfinal by beating Japanese Akiko Morigami 6-3, 7-5 at the
600,000-U.S.-dollar China Open here on Friday.
After losing her service in the first game, Jankovic
began to control the rhythm of the first set. The burgeoning Serbian grabbed
breaks in the fourth and sixth games and sealed the set 6-3. Full story
Davenport reaches semifinals at China
Open
BEIJING, Sept. 21 (Xinhua) -- American veteran
Lindsay Davenport entered the semifinals by breezily beating Russian Elena
Dementieva 7-6, 6-1 at the China Open tennis tournament quarter finals here on
Friday.
Dementieva, ranked 15th in the world, tried her best
in the first set but still lost to the American veteran in the tiebreak. Full story
