- Florence, September 20 - Tuscan fashion exports in 2006 amounted to more than
eight billion 700 million euros, a 3.4% increase compared to 2005.
According to confirmed data released by Toscana
Promozione, Tuscan exports within the fashion industry add up to more than 19%
of Italy's total.
Tuscan fashion has enjoyed particular success in
Russia over the past few years, with exports reaching staggering figures - a
36.1% jump since 2005.
The Russian market has experienced an average annual
increase of 15.6% since 2003.
Tuscany currently claims fifth place when it comes to
fashion exports to Russia. Not a surprising figure considering that Tuscany
hosts 22% of Italy s fashion companies with more than 21,500 firms and 98,700
employees working within the sector.
In 2005, the sector grossed over 18 billion
euros; textiles are the most productive sector with more than 6,750 companies,
followed by the clothing sector (5,675 companies), leather, shoes, gold and
jewelry.
