Indonesia lifts 7th tsunami warning

    JAKARTA, Sept. 14 (Xinhua) -- Indonesia lifted the seventh tsunami warning in Bengkulu province of Sumatra Island on Friday, Meteorology and Geophysics Agency said here.

    "The tsunami warning has ended for a magnitude of 6.9 Richter scale quake in Bengkulu province," said an official of the agency.

    The warning was issued when a strong aftershock with magnitude of 6.9 rocked the province at 13:01 Jakarta time (0601 GMT) with epicenter at 151 kilometers southwest Lais town in northern part of the province and at 10 kilometers under sea bed, the official said.

    The powerful main shock with magnitude of 7.9 rocked Bengkulu province on Wednesday afternoon.

    Powerful and moderate tremors frequently occur after that, according to the meteorology agency.
