BEIJING, Sept. 14 (Xinhuanet) -- Dubbed as "one of
the most wanted man on Earth," British movie star Jude Law is set to play the
title role in Shakespeare's greatest play "Hamlet" in West End, the
theater announced as quoted by media reports Friday.
Law, 34, will play under the direction of Kenneth Branagh
in mid-2009 as part of a one-year Donmar Warehouse season at the nearby
Wyndham's Theatre.
"The Talented Mr. Ripley" star has said in the past
that he longed to play the Prince of Denmark.
"Jude was on the record as saying he wanted to tackle
Hamlet at some point," said Michael Grandage, the artistic director of the
Donmar.
It is not the first time that Law has been on stage
in London.
In 1999, he appeared in John Ford's "'Tis Pity She's
A Whore" and three years later, he was back in "Doctor Faustus" by Christopher
Marlowe.
Law, star of "Cold Mountain" now can be seen in
theater with the remake of 1972 thriller "Sleuth."
Last week, he was arrested on suspicion of attacking
a photographer outside his west London home and later released on bail.

BEIJING, Sept. 6 (Xinuanet) -- British film star Jude Law
has been arrested on suspicion of attacking a photographer and released on bail
later, media reported Thursday.
The 34-old-year "Cold Moutain" actor was said to have tried to grab the lensman's camera outside his west London house in the plush Maida Vale district.
