NEW DELHI, Sept. 9 (Xinhua) -- Chinese-English dictionaries and business directories are in a great demand at an Indian book fair in New Delhi, a news report said Sunday.

"Everyday, we get a lot of visitors asking for books and dictionaries that can help them learn Chinese. The few dozen dictionaries that we had were sold out in the first three days of the fair," the Hindustan Times quoted a young Chinese exhibitor assaying.

Business with China, according to the report, appeared to be the main factor driving Indians to learn Chinese.

"I am learning Chinese because I want to get into an export-import business with China. That's why I need authentic books," it quoted Deepak Chawla, who is learning Chinese at a New Delhi college, as saying.

Another visitor, Rakesh Gupta, however, sounded disappointed because he had traveled down hundreds of kilometers to New Delhi from Moradabad in Uttar Pradesh state in search of Chinese business directories but found none at the book fair.
