Family spending up 2.2% in July

    (ANSA) - Rome, September 5 - Family spending in Italy registered a 1.1 pct year-on-year increase in July 2007, Italian retailers' association Confcommercio said.

    Spending for goods went up 1.0 pct and spending for services rose by 1.2 pct year-on-year in July 2007.

    According to Confcommercio, spending increased in communications, mobility and personal care, while spending for food products, clothing and services for households marked a drop.

    Spending for recreational goods and services fell 3.9 pct. A slight increase of 0.4 pct was registered by the restaurants and hotel sector.

    In the first seven months of 2007, family spending marked a slight climb of 0.6 pct, compared to a year ago.

    On an annual basis, spending for goods marked a rise of 0.6 pct and spending for services went up 0.7 pct for January to July 2007.

    In the same period, spending for restaurant and hotel services went up 0.6 pct.
