HANOI, Aug. 31 (Xinhua) -- Italian soccer star Roberto Baggio will attend a
demonstration football match in Laos next week, Lao newspaper Vientiane Times
reported Friday.
The former Italian national football team captain will join the
demonstration football match of the Lao U-23 national team at the country's
National Stadium on Sept. 4, and kick off the game, which will have two
30-minute halves and a 10-minute break, during which he will give his feedback
to the young Lao players.
Baggio, who has played in several World Cups, will visit Laos from Sept.
3-5 to promote 2007 World Food Day, under the theme of "The right to Food" as a
Goodwill Ambassador of the FAO. The announcement of preparations for the soccer
star's three-day visit to Laos was made at the country's Ministry of Agriculture
and Forestry Thursday.
Baggio's visit is aimed to promote awareness of the disease and to suggest
ways of preventing it, said the paper.
