Maradona to fix teeth in Colombia

    BOGOTA, August 28 (Xinhua) -- Argentine soccer star of the 1980s, Diego Maradona, will under go a so-called "smile design" treatment in Colombia, Marlon Becerra, one of the nation's most famous dentists told media on Tuesday.

    Becerra described Maradona, whom he met in 2005, as amiable, gentlemanly and a very nice person, adding the he aimed to give Maradona a treatment that satisfies him: with good oral health and esthetics. Maradona will have to travel to Bogota several times for the treatment he said.

    Maradona arrived in Colombia on Friday, his first visit to the city since 2005 when he had a stomach bypass operation at the Medihelp Clince in the Caribbean city of Cartagena.

    Becerra said that Pelusa (Fluffy), as soccer fans call the player, was a good patient and had no problem given autographs to other patients who were surprised to see the star in the northern Bogota dental surgery.

    Maradona retired from professional football in 1997, after 21 years during which he won the Best 20th Century Footballer award given by the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA).

    As well as being a dentist, Becerra presents a television talk show. He said he did not rule out Maradona appearing as a guest on his show.
