HELSINKI, Aug. 28 (Xinhua) -- Finnish researchers have found that coffee drinking can lead to high blood pressure levels, Finnish media reported Tuesday.

Researchers followed the coffee drinking habits of 25,000 Finns aged 25 to 64 over an average period of 13 years.

The research showed, however, the probable incidence of high blood pressure does not increase in proportion to the actual amount of coffee consumed. Blood pressure risks were the same whether a person drank just one cup or eight cups of coffee per day. The greatest risk appeared in those subjects consuming two to three cups daily.

The research findings are published in the American Journal of Nutrition.
