Turkey defend men's volleyball title at Universiade

Special report: 24th Universiade Bangkok 2007

    BANGKOK, Aug. 18 (Xinhua) -- Turkey beat Canada 3-1 (25-11, 23-25, 25-16, 25-21) to defend their men's volleyball title at the 24th Universiade here on Saturday.

    Breezing through the first set, Turkey met strong resistance and conceded the second set.

    Making changes in spikes and serves, Turkey controlled the third and the fourth set, forcing the Canadians to commit more and more errors.

    In the bronze medal match, the United States whitewashed Italy 25-15, 25-22, 25-16.

    A total of 24 teams came to Bangkok for the men's volleyball competition. China finished 17th.
