HOHHOT, Aug. 9 (Xinhua) -- Chinese vice president
Zeng Qinghong on Thursday visited retired officials, veteran soldiers, armies,
armed police and representatives from all walks of life in Inner Mongolia
Autonomous Region, which is celebrating its 60th anniversary.
"Many old comrades here are eyewitnesses and
participants of the establishment of the autonomous region 60 years ago," said
Zeng when he met with retired officials and veteran soldiers. "The Party and the
nation are grateful to you all for your contribution."
Zeng said that the government will always show
special care for old comrades and share fruits of the reform and development
with them. He also called on them to continue to make contributions to the work
of the Party and people.
When he met with representatives from all walks of
life, Zeng called on them to make new contributions to development of the
region.
In his visit to the People's Liberation Army (PLA)
Inner Mongolia military area command and armed police, Zeng called on them to
keep serving the stability, ethnic unity and frontier development of the region.
With an area of 1.18 million square kilometers, Inner
Mongolia is the first of five province-level autonomous regions established in
