BANGKOK, Aug. 5 (Xinhua) -- China's international news agency Xinhua has sent the biggest team of journalists to cover the 24th Universiade, which has drawn great attention from Thai media.
"A huge team of almost 40 Chinese journalists and photographers arrived in Bangkok late on Friday night from Beijing to cover the 24th Universiade," local newspaper Universiade Daily reported on Sunday.
"They are the biggest team of journalists reporting on the 24thUniversiade," the newspaper noted.
"Most of the Xinhua team members have the experience in reporting sports events," it added.
As one of the most influential news agencies in the world, Xinhua has dispatched a 37-strong delegation to Bangkok to cover the Universiade, an international top-flight multi-sport event and cultural festival which is to open on Aug. 8.
Xinhua's delegation will file stories about the Universiade in both Chinese and English. Some of the Xinhua journalists will also write stories for xinhuanet.com and make audio reports about the Universiade.
Xinhua not only attaches its great importance to the forthcoming Universiade, but also takes the chance to make a practice run for next year's Olympics Games in Beijing.
Wu Chen, a young talent who came to Xinhua last year, told Thai media here that it was her first trip to Thailand and first time to report a high-level multi-sport event.
"For me, this event will be a big learning curve, and it will be a big help to us all when the Olympic Games come around next year," said Wu, who will focus on taekwondo and judo reporting at the Universiade.
All the Xinhua journalists coming to Thailand are feeling at home and glad to see the similarities between the Chinese and Thai food.
