JAKARTA, July 23 (Xinhua) -- The Indonesian Air Force decided Monday to ground the remaining light attack aircraft OV-10 Bronco following an accident that killed a pilot earlier in the day.

    "All the Broncos will be grounded until we know the cause of the accident," Air Force Chief Air Marshall Herman Prayitno told reporters here.

    The Air Force now has seven Broncos, the multi-role turboprop aircraft developed by the United States in the 1960s. Only a few countries now have Broncos in their active fleets.

    A Bronco crashed Monday near the Abdurahman Saleh Airport in the East Java town of Malang Monday, just after it was airborne. Local media said the accident was caused by engine failure.

    It was the second accident in two years after another Bronco crashed in Malang due to bad weather.

    Asked if the Air Force would replace all the Broncos with new planes, the chief said "yes, there is such a plan."
