NEW YORK, July 18 (Xinhua) -- A transformer explosion rocked midtown Manhattan Wednesday in the evening rush hour, causing a four-alarm fire and sending off huge plumes of white smoke into the sky, local media reported.
The fire department said the source of the blast was a transformer explosion at 370 Lexington Avenue and seemed not terrorism related.
The big fire is causing No. 4, 5, and 6 subway trains to bypass Grand Central Station. Several city blocks were evacuated.
Some reports say one person was injured by the explosion, but the accurate casualties remain unknown.กก
