BEIJING, July 16 (Xinhua) -- An earthquake measuring 6.9 on the Richter scale rocked Japan Monday morning, according to China's Seismological Monitoring Network.

    The earthquake occurred at 37.5 degrees north latitude and 138.6 degrees east longitude at 9:13 a.m. Beijing time, the network reported here Monday.
