Bush: Progress made in eight areas in Iraq

    WASHINGTON, July 12 (Xinhua) -- U.S. President George W. Bush said Thursday that of the 18 benchmarks Congress set for the Iraqi government and asked the administration to measure, "satisfactory progress" was being made in eight areas.

    One example of such progress, he said, was that the Iraqi government had provided the three brigades they promised for operations in and around Baghdad. Full story
