ISLAMABAD, July 13 (Xinhua) -- At least 280 people
were killed in the flood in the provinces of Sindh and Balochistan and 186
people are still missing, said a Pakistani official Friday.

Lt. Gen (R) Farooq Ahmed Khan told a news conference here that 160 deaths in the
southwestern province of Balochistan and 120 in the southern province of Sindh
had been confirmed.
Besides, he said, 5,000 villages in Balochistan and
1,400 in Sindh have been affected by flood whereas 2 million people in
Balochistan and 200,000 in Sindh have been affected.
He said 73 relief camps have been established in
Shahdadkot, the most affected district of Sindh, 44 relief camps have been setup
in Balochistan, and those homeless have been lodged there.
Farooq said that various countries have so far
announced an aid of 6.2 million U.S. dollars for relief operation.
He said that it had been decided to build three dams
in areas like Shahdadkot so that these areas might be saved from any flood in
the future.
