BUCHAREST, July 11 (Xinhua) -- Most Romanians trust the European Union (EU) and are satisfied with their everyday life after the east European country joined the union this year, according to poll results issued on Wednesday.

The public opinion organization, The Standard Eurobarometer 67, found some 65 percent of the Romanians trust the EU, and the "satisfaction with everyday life" in Romania on a short term stands at 43 percent and on a medium term with 57 percent, exceeding the average level registered in the union.

As for the public agenda, the Romanians' concerns refer to the economic development (44 percent), health (27 percent), prices and inflation (27 percent) to a larger extent than other member states.

The trust in the EU saw a surprising growth pace both in the old member states (from 42 percent to 55 percent) and in the new ones (from 59 percent to 66 percent).

More than 60 percent of the European citizens appreciate that their country gained something from membership of the union, but the level of optimism depended on which accession wave the state was part of.

The poll is the first of its kind in Romania and was conducted at the request of the European Commission Directorate general for Communication.
