BAGHDAD, July 11 (Xinhua) -- The Iraqi security forces seized 200 explosive belts hidden in a truck while crossing into Iraq from Syria on Wednesday, an Interior Ministry spokesman said.

    The incident took place in the morning at the Waleed crossing point on the border with neighboring Syria, Maj. Gen. Abdul KarimKhalaf told reporters in Baghdad.

    He said that several other containers loaded with explosives were also found in the truck and the driver was detained and being questioned by the security forces.

    U.S. and Iraqi government frequently accused Syria of allowing foreign fighters across its border with Iraq. However, Syria denied the accusations, saying it is impossible to control the nearly 600-km-long desert border.
