Premier Wen meets Mauritian PM

    BEIJING, July 11 -- In Beijing, the Prime Minister of Mauritius has been given an official welcome to Beijing by Chinese Premier Wen Jia Bao. Navin-chand-ra Ram-goo-lam began his state visit Monday, along with his finance and development ministers.

    Wen and Ram-goo-lam exchanged ideas on bilateral relations and issues of common concern. Premier Wen Jiabao said both China and Mauritius are dedicated to developing their domestic economies and world peace. Wen Jiabao suggested the two sides improve high-level communication, expand trade and strengthen cooperation in various fields.

    Wen said he appreciates Mauritius's support of the One China Policy, and said he recognizes Africa's importance for world peace and stability.

    Ram-goo-lam said Mauritius values relations with China highly and extended thanks for support and assistance. The two countries established diplomatic relations in 1972.

    BEIJING, July 10 (Xinhua) -- China and Mauritius vowed here Tuesday to further cooperation in specialized fields to boost national development.

    China and Mauritius are both committed to developing their national economy, and should cement their cooperation in fields such as light industry, textiles, agriculture, fishery and trade, said Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao. Full story
