ISLAMABAD, July 10 (Xinhua) -- As many as 70 militants were killed and 15 others injured in the operation against Lal Masjid on Tuesday morning in the capital, a private Pakistani TV channel Geo reported.

    However, the army spokesman confirmed death toll of militants in the operation on Tuesday stood at 40 so far.

    The army spokesman said that 40 percent of Jamia Hafsa, an affiliated building of the mosque compound had been cleared in the operation.
