PARIS, July 6 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Olympic champion Liu Xiang suffered an upset at the Paris Golden League athletics meeting when he was beaten to third in the men's 110m hurdles on Friday.

Cuba's Dayron Robles, 20, recovered from a false start to win in 13.13 seconds, and American Anwar Moore finished second while Liu Xiang was in third place in 13.15 and world champion Ladji Doucoure of France was sixth in 13.27.

Four athletes are still on course for the million-dollar cash bonanza as American Sanya Richards won the women's 400 in 49.52 seconds, the fastest time this year, countrywoman Michelle Perry stormed to victory in the 100 hurdles in 12.56, Russia's Yelena Isinbayeva won the pole vault by clearing a year's best 4.91 meters and Finland's Tero Pitkaemaeki won the men's javelin with a throw of 89.70.

Isinbayeva tried to beat her world record of 5.01 but failed three times to clear 5.02.

Derrick Atkins of the Bahamas won the men's 100 in 10 seconds. The race lost much of its appeal after world record holder Asafa Powell of Jamaica pulled out with a groin injury.

Americans filled the first four places in the women's 100, Torri Edwards winning in 11.17 seconds ahead of Me'lisa Barber, Lauryn Williams and Carmelita Jeter.
