KABUL, June 30 (Xinhua) -- Taliban rockets killed three Afghan civilians and injured seven others in the eastern Kunar province on Saturday, a statement of the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) said.
Taliban militants fired rockets toward an ISAF patrol base in Chawki district at around 4:00 p.m. (1130 GMT), the statement said.
Two rockets fell short, landed in a village and caused the civilian casualties, it said, adding the injured were evacuated to ISAF medical facilities.
In a separate event, a suicide car bomber attacked an ISAF patrol in Surkhrod district of the eastern Nangarhar province, the statement said.
The blast damaged a military vehicle and slightly injured an ISAF soldier, it added.
About 37,000 ISAF and 13,000 U.S.-led coalition troops are operating in this country to hunt down militants and keep security.
Due to rising Taliban insurgency, over 2,500 persons have been killed in Afghanistan this year.
