MOSCOW, June 21 (Xinhua) -- At least 10 people were killed Thursday morning in a fire that broke out in an elderly house in the Omsk region of Siberia, the Itar-Tass news agency reported.

Seven people were injured and brought to the hospital and another 17 were still missing, according to the officials of Emergency Situations Ministry.

The blaze, which broke out shortly after midnight, started on the top floor of a three-story building, where 300 elderly people lived.

Six teams of firefighters were sent to put out the blaze, which had already engulfed large portions of the roof and the entire third floor when they arrived.
