RIO DE JANEIRO, June 13 (Xinhua) -- Striker Robinho's
agent announced Wednesday that the player will not join Brazil's national squad
this week but play for his team Real Madrid in the final round of the Spanish
League.
Agent Wagner Ribeiro revealed that Robinho wants to
face team Mallorca on Sunday June 17 "very much."
"It is the game of his life", he stressed.
The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) issued a
document to FIFA, notifying the international entity on the fact that Robinho
did not show up at the national team's training complex in Rio de Janeiro on
Wednesday.
Brazil began to practice on Tuesday for the Copa
America, which starts on June 26 in Venezuela.
Ribeiro said that it was a question of "good sense"
to allow him to play the match, as the footballer was the only one to be harmed
by the impasse.
The agent highlighted the fact that the striker did
not ask to be dismissed from the Copa America to go on vacation, as did
midfielders Ronaldinho and Kaka, who also play for European clubs.
He added that, when the roster for the tournament was
announced, CBF was aware of the Spanish League calendar and did not present any
kind of explicit opposition to Robinho's participation in the finals.
According to FIFA's rules, players must join their
national teams 14 days before any official competition or friendly match. If
Robinho plays Mallorca on Sunday, Real Madrid may be punished with the loss of
the points it can eventually win in the game.
