CAIRO, June 13 (Xinhua) -- Arab League Secretary General Amr Moussa condemned on Wednesday the explosion that occurred in Beirut and killed anti-Syrian lawmaker Walid Eido, his son and several other people.

    In a statement issued on Wednesday, Moussa termed the incident as a "heinous crime" which aimed at stirring sectarian strife in Lebanon.

    The Arab League chief called on all Lebanese people to be on alert towards the schemes designed to tear off Lebanon and destabilize its security.

    Moussa expressed condolence with all Lebanese people and the family of the lawmaker.

    Eido and his son were killed when an explosion hit their convoy in the Lebanese capital on Wednesday. ¡¡
