Special Report: President Hu attends outreach session of G8 Summit, visits Sweden

    HEILIGENDAMM, Germany, June 8 (Xinhua) -- Leaders of the Group of Eight (G8) industrialized nations started their outreach session with five major developing countries Friday morning at the German Baltic resort of Heiligendamm.

    Present at the meeting are Chinese President Hu Jintao, leaders from Brazil, India, Mexico and South Africa, leaders from Britain, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan and Russia, and UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon. U.S. President George W. Bush failed to attend the session due to stomach illness.

    The three-day G8 annual meeting will conclude on Friday afternoon.
