HEILIGENDAMM, Germany, June 8 (Xinhua) --
U.S. President George W. Bush is ill with a stomach ailment on the final day of
G8 summit, but his condition is not serious, a U.S. official said here Friday.
Bush, whose ailment began Thursday night, met with newly elected French
President Nicolas Sarkozy on Friday morning as scheduled.
It is not clear for the time being whether Bush will skip the final day
talks of the summit of the Group of Eight (G8) industrialized nations.
White House counselor Dan Bartlett told reporters here that the president's
stomach illness was "not serious."
"The president woke up this morning and was not feeling well," said
Bartlett. "The president right now is resting and is going to recuperate a
little."
Bartlett said Bush still plans to travel to Poland on Friday afternoon,
where he will discuss with Polish leaders on the deployment of U.S. interceptor
missiles in the European country.
The interceptor missiles are part of the U.S. plan to establish a missile
defense shield in Eastern Europe.
