BERLIN, June 7 (Xinhua) -- Chinese President Hu Jintao and his Mexican counterpart Felipe Calderon on Thursday vowed to further boost bilateral cooperation.

China-Mexico relations, which have witnessed sound development since the two countries established diplomatic ties 35 years ago, ushered in a new stage of all-round development in 2003 when the two countries established a strategic partnership, Hu said.

Political mutual trust between the two countries has been strengthened along with an expansion of exchanges and cooperation in various fields, he said. The two countries are supporting each other and cooperating closely in international and regional affairs.

Mexico has become one of China's most important trading partners and investment destinations in Latin America, the Chinese leader said.

The China-Mexico friendly cooperation has a good prospect for development as it enjoys a solid political foundation and the two countries have broad common interests, Hu said.

China has always attached strategic importance to its relations with Mexico in a long-term perspective, Hu said, adding that China is willing to work with Mexico to further deepen the China-Mexico strategic partnership by promoting cooperation in various fields.

Hu and Calderon are in Germany for a dialogue between leaders of the Group of Eight industrialized nations and developing countries.

Calderon said his government will make unswerving efforts to promote bilateral relations and continuously expand cooperation between the two countries on the basis of mutual respect and mutual benefit.

The two leaders also exchanged views on climate change. Hu presented China's position on the issue and proposed to take this issue as an important part of bilateral cooperation.

Calderon agreed to Hu's proposal. He said Mexico is ready to exchange experience and coordinate positions with China on this issue, stressing that poverty and development must be addressed first.
