HEILIGENDAMM, Germany, June 6 (Xinhua) -- Newly elected French President Nicolas Sarkozy arrived in the northern German city Rostock on Wednesday to attend his first summit of the Group of Eight (G8) industrialized nations due to open in the evening in the Baltic resort of Heiligendamm.

    After his plane touched down at the Rostock-Laage airport, Sarkozy took a helicopter to Heiligendamm, 25 km north of Rostock.
