Senior CPC official calls for more high-quality art works for children

    BEIJING, June 1 (Xinhua) -- Li Changchun, a senior official of the Communist Party of China (CPC), urged China's artists and writers to produce more works for children on Friday, the International Children's Day.

    Li, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, watched "Andersen," a drama in honor of Danish author Hans Christian Andersen, together with hundreds of children at a Beijing theatre Friday night.

    While meeting with actors and performance staff after the show, Li said he hopes the whole society would care about children and create a healthy cultural environment for them.

    He also extended holiday greetings to the children.
