GAZA, June 1 (Xinhua) - Israeli air force killed a Palestinian militant in southern Gaza Strip town of Khan Younis on Friday evening, witnesses and security sources said.

The witnesses added that an Israeli drone fired a missile at a motorcycle in the west of the city and killed rider.

The security sources confirmed the targeted person was a member of the Islamic Jihad's (Holy War) military wing. He is the third Palestinian to be killed on the day after the Israeli army shot dead two boys near the beach of northern Gaza Strip.

    The incidents came after a few days of relative calmness since an Israeli offensive against Gaza Strip was unleashed in a bid to stop Palestinian rocket attacks on Israeli cities.

    Barrages of home-made rockets started to fall into Israel by Hamas, the Islamic faction which shares a unity government with rival Fatah of President Mahmoud Abbas.

    Observers believe Hamas has violated ceasefire with Israel to calm down the internal situation after rounds of clashes between the two rivals.

    Meanwhile, Prime Minister Ismail Haneya of Hamas held an expanded meeting with all security chiefs, including those who are loyal to Abbas.

    According to a statement issued by Haneya's office, the meeting was designated to discuss how to launch a security campaign to restore law and order in Gaza Strip.

    The meeting followed reshuffle made by Haneya on security leaders. It was Haneya's first public resumption of work after days of being hiding to evade Israeli threats of targeting him.
