GAZA, May 28 (Xinhua) -- Palestinian factions continued on Monday launching rockets into Israel despite the Jewish country's threats to expand the 11-day-old crackdown on Gaza militant groups.

    The military wing of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas' Fatah movement and the Islamic Jihad (Holy War) claimed their joint responsibility for launching two rockets into Israeli settlements outside Gaza Strip.

    "There is no security for the Israeli occupation on the Palestinian land," the two groups said in a statement sent to the media.

    Earlier, Ezz el-Deen al-Qassam Brigades, armed wing of Hamas movement, also said it had fired four home-made rockets into southern Israeli town of Sderot and two communities behind the security fence that separates Gaza from Israel.

    Israeli sources said seven rockets had landed on open areas in western Negev, adding there was no immediate word on casualties.

    The Gaza rockets were being fired as Israeli warplanes kept flying overhead in the Gaza Strip, targeting more buildings for the Hamas movement.

    The aircraft shelled two camps for Hamas-dominated police force, better known as the Executive Force, and an Islamic charity in northern Gaza Strip in pre-dawn strikes.

    So far, 48 Palestinians have been killed in the ongoing operations that also target metal workshops and money exchangers which were accused by Israel of working or dealing with Hamas.

    Hamas announces it can retain itself to the ceasefire again if Israel halted operations in Gaza and stopped ground operations in the West Bank.
