Nokia completes new home for its China HQs in Beijing

BEIJING, May 26 (Xinhua) -- Nokia, the world's largest mobile phone maker,
announced Friday that it has finished construction ofits China Campus, which
will be home to its China headquarters, research and development center, and
mobile phone manufacturing base.
The project, located in Yizhuang economic and industrial zone in southeast of Beijing, cost
450 million yuan (about 58 million U.S. dollars) to build.
Before the end of the year more than 1,500 Nokia staff, working in research
and development, sales, marketing, logistics, sourcing and manufacturing, will
move to the complex from the Xingwang industrial park, also in Yizhuang, said
Yang Dapeng, a senior executive with Nokia China. Nokia has more than 6,000
employees working throughout China.
The Xingwang industrial park, also home to nearly 20 other electronic
companies, has attracted a total investment of more than 13 billion yuan since
it was established in 2000.
The park's output value is 100 billion yuan accounting for half of the
total output value of Beijing's electronic manufacturing industry. More than
45,000 people work at the industrial park.
