CAIRO, May 25 (Xinhua) -- Egyptian athletes took five gold medals out of seven in the Greco-Roman events of the African Wrestling Championship, a three-day competition beginning on Friday, MENA news agency reported.
In the 55-kg weight category, defending champion Karem Ibrahim grabbed the gold medal. He won the gold medal for Egypt last year in South Africa. Tunisian Maher al-Boujeek and South African James Dravil took the silver and bronze medals respectively.
Another defending champion Yasser Abdel-Rahman won the gold medal in the 120-kg category.
The 96-kg gold medal went to Karam Gaber, who was the Athens Olympic champion in 2004. Ahmed Shaker and Mohamed Mustafa added two gold medals in the 84-kg and 60-kg.
The gold medal of the 66-kg class went to Tunisian wrestler Hamza Louati while Egypt's Ashraf Melegi won the silver.
Tunisian champion Ayat Akram won the gold medal of the 74-kg class and Ahmed Abdel Sadek of Egypt took the silver.
