PYONGYANG, May 24 (Xinhua) -- The top legislator of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) on Thursday sent congratulations to Jordan's King Abdullah II on the country's 61stanniversary of independence, the official Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) said.

    In the message, Kim Yong-nam congratulated Jordan, saying "the friendly and cooperative relationship between the DPRK and Jordan would continue to develop in mutual interests."

    Jordan celebrates its independence day on May 25 every year.
