Special report: Top legislator Wu's 3-nation
trip
WARSAW, May 24 (Xinhua) -- Top Chinese legislator Wu Bangguo arrived in Warsaw on Thursday, kicking off an
official goodwill visit to Poland.
During his stay here, Wu, chairman of the Standing
Committee of China's National People's Congress (NPC), will meet with Polish
President Lech Kaczynski, Prime Minister Jaroslaw Kaczynski, Senate Speaker
Bogdan Borusewicz, and Ludwik Born, speaker of the Polish parliament's lower
house.
The meetings will focus on bilateral relations,
inter-parliamentary cooperation and issues of common concern.
In a written statement delivered at the airport, Wu
said that China always attaches importance to its relations with Poland,
expressing his hope that his visit would help deepen the friendship and mutual
understanding between the two peoples.
It is the first time for a top Chinese legislator to
visit Poland.
Poland is the last leg of Wu's three-nation visit,
which has already taken him to Egypt and Hungary.
