Special Report:
Top legislator Wu's 3-Nation
Trip
WARSAW, May 23 (Xinhua) -- Top Chinese legislator's upcoming visit to
Poland is of particular significance as it demonstrates the wish of the two
countries to further develop relations, said Ludwik Dorn, speaker of Poland's
lower house of parliament.
Wu Bangguo, chairman of the Standing Committee of China's National People's Congress,
will begin his official goodwill visit to Poland on Thursday.
In an exclusive interview with Xinhua, Dorn said Chinese President Hu
Jintao's visit to Poland in 2004 was the first by a Chinese head of state since
the two countries established diplomatic relations 58 years ago.
The visit was a success, he said. And Poland hopes that political contacts between
the two countries can be regularized in accordance with the joint
declaration signed during Hu's visit.
Top leaders need to visit each other's country with a gap of months
or years, not decades, he said.
