BEIJING, May 22 -- China's top legislator Wu Bangguo has met with Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak in Cairo.
Wu Bangguo and Hosni Mubarak exchanged views on Sino-Egyptian relations and issues of common concern.
Wu said Egypt was the first African and Arabian country to have forged diplomatic relations with China. The two nations have supported each other and worked together closely for half a century.
Wu noted that the development and consolidation of bilateral ties will benefit peoples of both countries.
Wu said he hopes the two sides can deepen ties based on the principle of equality and mutual benefits, and fully implement the proposals made by President Hu Jintao during his visit to Egypt earlier this year.
Mubarak echoed Wu's views. He said Egypt values its friendship with China, admires the country's fast development, and will continue its strategic partnership.
Earlier, Wu visited a Sino-Egyptian aircraft training project in the southern suburbs of Cairo. He inspected the workshops in the aircraft factory of the Arab Organization for Industrialization.
Wu said the success of this project proves there is a bright future for cooperation between the two nations.
Wu arrived in Cairo on Friday on an official goodwill visit. He is scheduled to visit Hungary and Poland next.
