BEIJING, May 14 -- Iran's President has arrived in
the United Arab Emirates, as part of a tour of the Gulf.
Mahmoud Ahmadinejad spoke with U.S.-ally, Sheikh
Khalifa bin Zayed al-Nahyan, and called for U.S. troops to leave the Gulf. He
said their departure, along with cooperation between Iran and the UAE, would
lead to a peaceful Persian Gulf. The UAE shares similar concerns with Iran's
Gulf Arab neighbors over Tehran's nuclear programme.
The U.S. has a strong military presence in the Gulf.
It's accused Iran of wanting to make nuclear weapons. But Iran continues to
insist that it only wants to generate energy for peaceful purposes.
