Bush to veto new war funding measure

    WASHINGTON, May 9 (Xinhua) -- U.S. President George W. Bush is set to veto a new bill drafted by Democrats that will fund the Iraq war only through July, the White House said Wednesday.

    White House press secretary Tony Snow told reporters that "there are restrictions on funding and there are also some of the spending items that were mentioned in the first veto message that are still in the bill," something Bush will not accept.

    When asked directly if Bush will veto the new bill, Snow responded with "yes."  Full story
